Playtime

Over the past week or so Evelyn has really started to want to be entertained and playing when she awake.  She really likes her "taggie" blanket.  It has tabs around the edges for her to grab onto and play with.

She also likes the toy we got to replace our recalled sling carrier.  I think she seems to focus the most on the light up red moon.  It is great that she is starting to be able to make the lights and sounds go off on her own too.

We also try to do some tummy play everyday.  Unfortunately, she does not enjoy this as much and will only tolerate it for at most 10 minutes at a time.

Busy holiday

Starting with our first Hoffman's trip last Wednesday we have had something going on every day for the past week.

Thursday night we went to the Valleycats with Evan's family.  We only made it to about the 5th inning because it was already almost 9 o'clock and it was still very cold that day.  It is funny to see everyone in jackets and sweatshirts all bundled up on July 1st!

The next day we went to Scotia to celebrate my birthday with my family and go to the Scotia fireworks.  The weather was much nicer that day and we had a great time people watching down near the park.  Evie did great with the fireworks too and slept right through for the most part.

Saturday we went next door to Rob and Tom's for a lunch picnic (yummy kabobs and apple pizza) and then we were off to Petersburgh for a surprise retirement party for Evan's dad.  It was a great time and Evie got to meet all the extended family on his side.

Sunday was Mommy and Daddy's first date out without baby girl.  We went to lunch and saw The Last Airbender.  She did great and slept most of the time for Grandpa and Nanie.  We definitely missed her while we were out though.  This is how she was when we got home.  Nice and comfy...

Monday we went to Berlin in the morning for the parade.  It was a lot of fun because their parade includes a lot of old classic cars, floats (the theme was old TV shows) and even horses.  Papa was marching with the Petersburgh Fire Department.

We even saw the Ghostbusters car.  :)

Then in the afternoon we were off to Rotterdam for swimming and picnic with my family.  Evie dipped her toes in the pool but was not quite ready for swimming yet!  We tried to stay cool in the ridiculous heat and had some great dinner.  Evie passed out in the shade for a few minutes but was a bit too hot to really get any rest.  We didn't really mind though because after a fussy car ride home she had a bottle and slept for 8 whole hours!

First trip to Hoffman's

Yesterday we went to Hoffman's and Latham Greens with Evan's family.

Evie was unbelievably well behaved considering we were out for about three hours and for some reason it was very cold.  Evan did his very best to make sure she stayed as cozy as possible.

She went for her first ride on the train.  She had a messy diaper about 30 seconds in and screamed for the whole ride except the tunnel so no good pictures of that part of the trip.

Everyone had a great time golfing (especially Collin) and causing some trouble in the arcade.

Two months!

Baby girl Evelyn is two months old today!  Check out the new pictures posted in the gallery.

Some days I do feel like the time has been flying and it seems like she was just born yesterday.  Then again, I think of all the wonderful memories we have already added up and it seems like she has been here with us forever.  Hard to remember life without her!

We had our two month well visit to the doctor today and she gained another pound bringing her to 9 lbs and 12 ounces.  We do not really have an official height to report because she refused to sit still for the girl to measure her.  The length she did get was less than last time and we are pretty sure she is not shrinking.  We will have to try to measure her ourselves sometime soon.

Overall, Evie has been very kind to us and been a good baby.  Once we switched to doing breast milk and formula from bottles she has been sleeping for much longer chunks (3-5 hours instead of 1.5 - 2) which has made our whole house a happier place to be.

For the most part, we are on a good schedule of eating, playing for about an hour and then going to sleep until we repeat the process again.  She does get cranky in the evenings but nothing more than fussy period each night where she just really wants to be held.  Most other times when she gets fussy it is cured by either some time in her swing or some walking around with her facing out to watch the world.  She is also very good about letting us know when her diaper is dirty so we are hoping that down the road that translates into easy potty training!

Evelyn LOVES it when people talk to her and she moves her mouth and tongue all around when she watches others speaking.  Seems like she is going to be a big talker!  She has also started to show a lot of interest in her mobile (check out the video below) and the hanging toys over her swing and bouncy seat.  It is very fun to see her just sit for long periods of times amusing herself laughing and watching her toys.  We have also been very lucky that Evie likes to be in her car seat which is also her stroller so we have been able to go on lots of visits to see family and also able to take walks around the neighborhood.

Looking forward this week to lots of family visits for the 4th and maybe even a night out for Mommy and Daddy!
